Minutes of Meeting
July 12, 2003

Kudos to Connie for suggesting the Greek Village Restaurant for lunch. We had a wonderful time, lunch was in a private room, food was delicious and the price was right.

Pidge had a card for us to sign to send Ronnie   who hasn’t been feeling well.

We thanked Pidge for all the years she served as Treasurer plus all the other things she’s always doing for the chapter. The very able Alice will be taking on the responsibility. .

Muriel received a check from WMA Inheritance Fund...matching funds for what we spent to send items to women Marines in Iraq. Marge, Connie and Barbara will again visit the canteen for additional items for our Marines still in Iraq.

Alice announced that James Brady will be the keynote speaker at the breakfast for 50th anniversary of the Korean War Armistice at the Huntington Town House Sat. July 26 9-12 noon.

Glenda was recognized for having been honored in Albany.  It was a special recognition she received for Women Veterans’ Recognition Day.

Message was received from Area Director re WMA Pres. Carol Mutter speaking at the MA1 luncheon in Quincy Mass July 27.

Kudos go to Mary Burns for the great job she is doing re our website. You’ll want to check it out at www,wma-paumanok.org. (Note the dash and not dot after wma).   If you have suggestions for her, she would be glad to hear from you.

Our next meeting will be Sat Sept. 27, 2003 at Massapequa Sunrise Detachment House

It was voted to send $200. to SW Indian Foundation in N.M. This is an organization designed to help the children of the first female casualty in Iraq.

It was voted to send $200. to Veterans’ Emergency Transportation Inc.

Discussion re safe houses for homeless women veterans...Pidge is going to check out.
